Is american history the same as world history?

Not at all. America is a single country and the world is, well, the whole world- all two hundred or so countries. That should be obvious. Since this is in the AP category, I'm going to assume you are referring to APUSH vs WHAP difficulty levels...? In which case, I'm currently taking WHAP and I haven't taken APUSH, but I've heard APUSH is easier than WHAP... But everything will depend on your teacher, and of course your work ethic. My advice? Study A LOT and don't get discouraged!
