Yes indeed, the caucasion actor played the part of Kwai Chang Caine, an Asian monk in this 'Wild West meets Far East' cowboy / kung fu series. Don't get me wrong, Carradine was wonderful in this show but I have always wondered why he was cast. Were there NO Chinese men in town on the day of auditions? Bruce Lee wrote the original screenplay for Kung Fu. It was named something else like "The Wanderer" can't quite remember. Because of stereotypes and racist views he was not allowed to play the main character of his screenplay because he was "too chinese" and it was thought that the show would do poorly in ratings.
