There's an interesting shot on the beach. Roy Scheider is on the beach looking at the water to determine if there are any sharks. People keep walking between him and the camera. Whenever this happens, the camera zooms closer to him as they pass.

There are sharks in multiple episodes of Spongebob Squarepants. Mrs. Puff, You're Fired: The boating teacher who takes over for Mrs. Puff is a shark named Sergeant Sam Roderick. SpongeGaurd On Duty: In this episode Spongebob tries to convince others to come out of the water at the beach by yelling "SHARK!" and the father of a family of sharks at the beach replies "Hey, that's my family you're talking about!"
Doc Dedham's house was next to Wailua Beach. The house is gone and the property is now a resort condominium. Wailua Beach is located at the mouth of the Wailua River where many of the scenes were filmed; including both the water skiing and canoe segments by cutting and editing the film together. The unique looking trees on Doc Dedhams property were and are surrounding a sacred Hawaiian Heiau (Ancient Hawaiian Place of Worship) which is not visible in the filming of Donovan's Reef. At least not that we have noticed. The now derelict Coco Palms Hotel, made famous by Elvis Presley in Blue Hawaii, is located directly across from Wailua Beach. You can go down the river and see where it was relocated. Its up on the ridge and you can see the back from the river. Take the tour they point it out.

You can't dig a hole that deep at a beach. When you hit the water table, the hole will collapse. Many people died that way. And you can get buried alive.

It is possible to walk up a stream provided the water level is low enough and not flowing too quickly. (A pleasant, cooling way to pass a hot day when out walking in the hills.) A river is usually deeper than a stream, and would mean swimming rather than walking.
