The season 2 was scheduled to air this October 2009 (not sure about the exact date). This season 2 though is not exactly a season 2 but rather a sequel (not a spin off or OVA). It is entitledDarker Than Black: Ryuusei no Gemini or Darker than Black: Gemini of the Meteor. The number of episodes are still unknown.
Here is a short introduction about the story:
Two years have passed since Hei and Yin escaped the Syndicate after the events of the first season. Making their way to Russia, Hei encounters a young girl named Suou Pavlichenko, whose family is gradually pulled into the war between contractors and various intelligence factions. Meanwhile, Misaki Krihara has quit her position in Foreign Affairs to begin her own investigations into Hei, the Contractors and the Syndicate.
