Back in 2008 the term manny started coming into general conversation in reference to male caretakers that assumed the responsibilities of the typical female nanny. This is not considered an official job title. It is a slang term usually used by employers of male caretakers.

On Friends - Season 9, Episode 6 - "The One With The Male Nanny" which originally aired on November 7, 2002. When Ross tells Chandler that he and Rachel had hired a male nanny to take care of Emma. Chandler says "You got a man whose a nanny, you got a manny?"
