There really hasn't been a time when horror movies weren't popular. Audiences have had a taste for the macabre since the invention of film. The first horror films were around in the 1890s although the term 'horror' wasn't used until the 1930s.

They would ask sculptor to make them a creature, but the sculptors didn't know how, so they took diffrent images of animals and added them together to make a stature which we now call gargoyles. Early horror started with the dead, and talking to spirits followed by exorcisms. Horror began as an early start to thrill and excitement. People enjoyed the horror and fascination to get scared and startled by plays, artwork and murder. There are many genres of horror, movies and music today still haunts us now, there are only some people in the world who love this kind of stuff, and i am one of them...!
