Lee Greenwood wrote the song, "God Bless the USA" in 1983 because he felt that the country need to be more united. It struck an instant chord with fans and was played at the 1984 Republican Convention. Since that time, it has taken on a life of its own and seems to arise at times of crisis in the country, most especially after 9/11.

The well-known song entitled God Bless the USA was recorded by country singer Lee Greenwood. It was included in the album "You've Got a Good Love Comin'" in 1984 and came out as a single in the same year. In 2003 it was released as a single because it became popular again as the United States invaded Iraq.
