I think it could have come from when Hank Williams SR. was banned from The Grand Ole Opry due to intoxication. After he got his act together a guy named "Jim Dandy" came to his rescue and put him back on The Opry. The rest is history. By the way, Hankw Williams died at the age of 29 from booze and pills.
