Charles II (29th May 1630 - 6th February 1685) aged 54.

Charles was born the second son of Charles I and Henrietta Maria. In 1646, the royal family saw that the war was going to be lost and therefore Charles and his family, not including his father, went to France to remain safe. After the civil war was lost and his father killed, it was presumed that he wasn't going to be able to return to England. However, upon the death of Oliver Cromwell in 1658, and his son's abdication in 1660, Charles returned to England and arrived on his 30th birthday. He was crowned King in 1661. During his early reign the Plague and London Fire were major events. His youngest brother Henry and sister Mary died at this time to from an outbreak of Smallpox. Towards the end of his reign Charles showed no signs of ill health however he suffered a severe apoplectic fit on the morning of 2nd February 1685 and died four later, aged 54.
