The year of Naruto's birth is unknown. It could be possible that since the manga came out in November 1999 in Japan, Naruto would have been born in 1987, and when the Anime came out in October 2002 in Japan, Naruto could have been born in 1990. However, Kabuto Yakushi is the only character in both of the series that was born on Leap Day February 29th. Since he was 7 years old when Naruto was born and he only celebrates his Birthday once every 4 years on the exact day and possibly February 28th or March 1st on years with no Leap Days. This shows that Kabuto was in fact born in 1980 in the manga since that year was a Leap year which makes Naruto born in 1987. Moreover, in the Anime, the time line is much different in the series than in the manga. Kabuto could have been born in 1984 since that was a Leap year, which makes Naruto born in 1991. So this shows that the timeline of the whole Naruto plot is from the year 1999-2003 in the manga and 2003-2007 in the anime.

Naruto first went on air in Japan 2001 but they stayed the age 12 until 2007 when it came out in America & Canada Then they started to age too 13 and 14 around the same time as i did , They eventually stopped making Naruto shows and around the time i turned 16 they had this show that had recently been released Naruto Shippuden and the characters were also 16 i am now 18 and so are the characters in Naruto Shippuden that leads me to believe That Uchiha Sasuke & Uzumaki Naruto And the other leaf Genin Now Chuunin & Gaara were all born in 1994 , thank you :]

well not much is known of this question,but u can tell it kind of takes place in the present because the only things they don't have are cars and guns they do have Cranes and tractors just not cars. Guns don't stick to the ninja way. That's all i have too say also masashi kishimoto says that it is modern times.

Well look at what they wear: open toed shoes, they were famous in the year AD 630 but then again the creator(Masashi Kishimotto) made a timeline and currently the manga takes place in:

In Naruto the time doesn't matter. Some people have said that Naruto takes place in another dimension (planet, etc.) some clues about this is, they say they are humans and yet they have powers and whatnot, there are strange monsters and magic. (jutsus are pretty much violent magic tricks) Also they have no Japan or America or Switzerland or china or etc. It is there own lands. and all of the lands kinda form a Pangaea! So I guess if you really wanted an answer it would be around the time of the Pangaea. (but that wouldn't work to well either considering there were no humans at that time!)

Hello! Making a quick correction to what was posted, there is a China, in once scene Gai feeds Lee these green things that he said grow in China. Its in episode 98. In my opinion Naruto takes place on a continent that doesnt exist in the real world but is placed on earth along with the original continents. The size of the land is never really stated so it could be smaller than what people think. As far as the year goes I would assume its in the 1900's but I cant really tell the exact year.

we don't really know. Naruto is a manga/anime that is more like a fairytale type of world that in't really set in a particular time period. because of this kishimoto never said what year he's born. (besides the fact that he's birthday's 10th of October)
