The following sentences appear in the unpublished, private, memoirs of Maria, the late daughter of August and Raffaela Weber - who were the owners the Pensione Weber just above Piccola Marina in Capri during the first half of the last century. My Italian is not very good - but I take it to say that her original private villa was called the Villa Behring - which was originally owned by a German of that name, was later bought by an Englishman called Shortridge and then was bought by Gracie, before she had the 'Canzone del Mare' built A quick search reveals that it doesn't appear that such a villa name is readily found on the island today. The memoir was briefly recalling Piccola Marina before the time when the 'Canzone del Mare' was built and gives no indication of where the Villa Behring was situated. C.G.P.
