By Technical definition, a "feature film" is a 1 piece film at least 40 minutes in length, and is the primary feature of the presentation. Motion Pictures were originally used to entertain audiences prior to plays, and during intermissions. They were about 12 minutes in length but were not feature films"

Going by the technical definition, the first feature film ever made would be "The Story of the Kelly Gang", a 70 minute Australian film released in 1906.

There were a couple of movies released a few years prior to this film that were 40 minutes and 60 minutes, but they were released in many parts
