The first comedy to win the Academy Award for Best Picture was Frank Capra's 1934 film "It Happened One Night," which starred Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert. It was the first of three movies to win the top five Oscars on the same night: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress and a screenwriting award. The two others that accomplished the feat: "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" (1975) and "The Silence of the Lambs" (1991).
