The Simpsons debuted on FOX in 1989 and still airs today & will do so until May 2019 unless it gets renewed again. However, it should be noted that it's not the longest running sitcom. That belongs to the U.K.'s Last of the Summer Wine which aired for 37 years from 12 November 1973 to 29 August 2010.
Indecently it's not the longest running animated program. That belongs to Japan's Sazae-san which has been producing episodes since 1969.
It depends what exactly an "entertainment television show" is.
Presuming you mean a non-news program, America's Guiding Light aired for 57 years on CBS from 1952 until 2009 & was a radio show for 15 years before that, however, the U.K.'s Coronation Street will soon match Guiding Light and presumably overtake it as it has been on the air since 1960.
Meet the Press & the CBS Evening News are tied for the top spot debuting in 1947 & 1948 respectively. As of August 2012 they are both at 64 seasons despite one airing a year earlier than the other.
The next is Music & the Spoken Word which debuted in 1949 but began on radio in 1929.
