Marshal Mathers (Eminem) lived in a rather rough towns in Missouri, America. He was constantly bullied, and his father left him at 18 months old. He was introduced to hip hop by his uncle Ronald Nelson, where he became interested in music and started amateur rapping at age 14 in in M&M.

He was influenced mostly by his uncle, therefore his suicide in 1991 caused him much grief. He mentioned his name in a few songs, such as Stan and Cleaning out my closet.

Champtown was his first mentor, and the first to show him into the studio. Marshal also co-operated with Royce da 5'9 under the stage name "bad meets evil". They did another one recently too. He also made the album "infinite" under Web Entertainment.

Marshal then proceeded to many competitions and freestyle battles, winning many awards. Dr Dre started recording Marshall's album "The Slim Shady LP", again published by Web Entertainment. Marshall has always been respectful to Dr Dre for helping him out, and mentioned him in many songs too ( I need a Doctor - Dr Dre feat. Skylar Grey and Eminem ).

The Slim Shady LP contains many songs on drug abuse, poverty, mental problems, sexual acts and violence. According to Billboard, at this point in his life Eminem had "realized his musical ambitions were the only way to escape his unhappy life".

After that, Marshal went on and made other albums; Encore, The Marshal Mathers LP and The Eminem Show, Musical Hiatus, Relapse and Refill, Recovery and Bad Meets Evil Reunion.
