If I remember correctly, it occurs totally out of the blue. Mother and child are out for a walk in the forest, brief images of hunter or hunters- then Bang! It's all over. The whole idea- which has been embraced by other feature type animal cartoons ( such as Babar) is to show hunters in a negative light. In this goal and role it surely hit the target. For some odd reason normal two-parent family life- and especially maternal love, is a scant , endangered commodity in many popular movie cartoons- particularily those from the Mousetro ( Mr. Disney) This even extends to animal characters such as Bambi, and good-gal type characters such as the Little Mermaid. No real reason is given for this male-sided family orientation.
