-> At the age of 1 Harry's parents were murdered by Voldermort.

-> He grew up with the Dursleys' who were cruel to him and neglected him.

-> His cousin Dudley prevented him from having any friends.

-> He grew up having to be punished for doing magic he couldnt control or ask about.

-> In his 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th years at Hogwarts he came face to face with Voldermort.

-> Harry only had photos of his parents, his only link to them apart from his cloak.

-> In his 5th year his Godfather Sirius died, a person Harry was begining to see as a brother and a Father.

->Harry began to learn the secrets of Voldermort's past, present and future.

As Dumbledore said in OOTP it was because of love that Harry wanted to finish Voldermort off himself- love for his parents, his godfather, his friends, the people around him. Had Voldermort not killed the people Harry loved, Harry wouldnt have felt as strongly as he did. Question answered :p ?

She was on a train when the idea hit her. Short of a notebook and pen, she told herself that if this idea did not surive the ride, it was not worth remembering. She wrote the first book, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, in a cafe, often leaving her baby daughter asleep in a stroller at the park to rush over and write as fast as she could. I believe that her main motive in writing the series was her children. She had been having a very hard time financially, and because of that she'd had to go on welfare in order to better provide for her children. When she saw how people responded to her work, she knew that that could be a way to get her and her kids off welfare, which became a definite motive for her to continue writing.

Harry Potter doesn't have a motive, he must kill Tom Riddle (Lord Voldemort), because there is a prophecy about it.

Harry was obviously motivated by his love for Draco. One of the saddest tales of unrequited love in the annals of fictitious history.

harry potters heritage?

The Potters were, for many generations, Pure-blood, up until the birth of Harry Potter in 1980. The surname was an old wizarding family descended from Ignotus Peverell and Linfred of Stinchcombe. After the birth of Harry Potter in 1980 they were excluded from the Sacred Twenty-Eight because of their egalitarian's blood purity.
