This was the story in a newer Alfred Hitchcock show. I think it was first broadcast in the 80s. Sean Hubley played the woman prisoner that tricked the elderly undertaker into letting her climb in a casket on top of a body to be taken out and buried. The undertaker promised to dig her up soon after, before she would sufficate . He told her when the death bell tolls, climb into the casket, that means someone has died and will be taken out of the prison gates. It was dark when she got in the casket, so she didn't see the body, but when she was buried and waiting for the undertaker, she jokingly said to herself, let me see who you are, and lit her lighter to see. It was the undertaker. Needless to say, the scene ended with her screaming, since he was the only one who knew she was waiting to be dug up.

A bier is a coffin platform.
The movie was based on the Barbara Jean Mackle case. There were provisions for survival in her coffin- there was an air-recirculation pump, and this was in a mild climate, I believe Florida at night.- still a sicko crime. the perpetrators did not intend to ( and did not take her life) kill their victim.
