Harry Belafonte, 84, has had benign nodules on his vocal chords for a number of years that create the vibratory sound effect of two voices coming from his voice box simultaneously. There is the regular voice that we are familiar with and then there is a gruff basso profundo that you can hear at times. At times he speaks in either one of the other, but after a time both voices can be heard. Mr. Belafonte refused to do surgery to remove the benign nodules.
