Some people see this song in a different way but lyrics mean different things to different people. To me it means that the girl is getting ready to turn 18 and the boy is younger (for me the situation would be reversed but since its a guy band...) The "one mistake" is that they were born too far apart so now they have to deal with the fact that they are in love but legally can't do anything sexual because he will be a minor. The other situation is that he is singing to a girl who is younger than him and she is seventeen and soon will be 18 so they can't do anything yet but they can "get away with" it until she turns 18.

∙ 12y agoWell the most people see it as a song that's just completely Twilight and Bella and Edward but even if I see that I see it differently too.
I also think it's about a girl who's around early teens (Under 14) and a 17 year old guy being in love and having sex. Now once he turns 18 that will be illegal and wrong, but they love what they have at the time. When I listen to it I always think that it's the guys perspective on everyn other thing but on the chorus it's the girl. I don't really know though. Just what I think.
