You say "Fool me once, shame on you! Fool me twice, shame on me!"

This means, if you play a trick on me and I fall for it, shame on you for fooling me. But if you play a trick on me and I fall for it again, then shame on me for being foolish.

No there has not been any eveidence to say there is a fool me three times, although some people add on: "Fool me three times, YOU'RE A B****!"

I would add... Fool me thrice, To hell with it...

Wrong the proverb goes "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me thrice, shame on me I am a fool"
