If you check the manuals that come with the TV or the specification sheet it will tell you what the power rating of the TV is. Specification sheets are available on the manufacturer websites as well. I maybe wrong but you may want to determine what type of TV to buy base on the power rating. Classical CRT TV will burn more power than LED or LCD. How ever,some LCD may pull 30% less than CRT depending on the back lighting. LED TVs will pull 40 to 50% less than LCD TVs but they maybe pricey now because it is new technology. But you would need to calculate the power uses over three years to determine the savings you will gain when buying this new appliance.
