"Cool Hand Luke" (1967). This takes place on a "prison farm".
The big black prisoner they so cared for is released secretly accompanied by guards because of his healing powers so he can heal the Warden's wife (I suspect she has cancer or a mental disorder of sorts) and does. Then he has to come back to prison and is electrocuted much to the digust of the Warden and guards who have grown to love him. They know he has special powers, is innocent of killing the two little white girls (was trying to heal them when he found them) and know that a special person's life was taken away from them. Near the end the black prisoner said words to the effect he was losing his healing powers because his spirit was weary and didn't fear death because he knew he was innocent. The prison guards knew things would never be the same again. Oh yes, the prison guard that was cruel ended up with a white jacket strapped around him. Nice ending as far as I was concerned. LOL Great movie!
A little "dark", but it adequately portrayed the emotional state of someone who had been falsly arrested. It was also quite accurate about the inside of a prison, the kinds of things that go on and the attitude of some guards from that era. Not all guards were that way, in fact most weren't. But there were enough corrupt guards that it is worth showing. In all, I would consider it a film to see for someone who is interested in what goes on in a prison.

The movie is about a group of friends making a documentary about a prison where a massacre occurred. Supposedly, guards just start killing inmates until someone released the prisoners. Soon the entire prison is in chaos. Years later as the friends go to film the documentary a group of thieves who just robbed a bank have decided to hideout in the facility. However, all the activity causes the ghostly spirits of the inmates to awaken.
"What we've got here is failure to communicate," is a quote from the movie, Cool Hand Luke. The first person to say it in the movie was the prison warden. Later, Luke, played by Paul Newman, says it as a prisoner.
