What is the movie love actually about?

It is difficult to state the plot of the movie Love, Actually because it tells several smaller stories that are then intertwined; many of the characters have relationships to multiple characters in the movie. There is Daniel helping his stepson, Sam, with his first love. Daniel is friends with Karen who discovers her husband, Harry, may be having an affair. Harry, in turn, is dealing with the flirtations of a subordinate in addition to trying to play cupid for two of his employees. Then there's Mark, who is in love with his best friend's bride. The newlyweds are friends with Jamie who has just discovered that his girlfriend is having an affair with his brother. And there's so much more going on in this delightful film. When the filmmakers had completed the first round of editing, they had a film that was over three and a half hours long. By editing out one scene from each of the individual stories, they were able to tame it down to a little over two hours long.
