SHINE is the name of the moving staring Geoffrey Rush who plays David Helfgott. A young man bent on pleasing a tyranical father obsessed with Classical Music. David succeeds in his career and plays Rachmaninoffs 3rd Concerto in a competition, but has a nervous breakdown and is institutionalized. He makes a comeback later in life finding love and success, but still he's not all there.
The movie is a bit bizarre with the hateful relationships and personal darkness, but lightened with some of David's kooky behavior and some amazing off-the cuff paino playing that astounds those who mock David in a restaurant.
