What is the meaning of friendship and conviviality song?

The only one i am familiar with was the so-called Friendship song ( used on the Winchell Mahony time show) it was somewhat laid-back and was used as a let-down or to use the hymnody phrase, recessional theme song for the program, this was immediately followed, like crowds shouting after the National Anthem, with the faster up-beat Hurray, Hurrah, theme but only the opening bars as the show went off-screen.
