He was wondering which one of the to men was a shooter. This is why he also looked at Marks hand and called him a gunnie. (gunner/ sniper) gunnie as in Gunnery Sargent He was looking to see if any of them had any war experience. The agent didn't have any so he didn't care, Bob Lee Swagger had obvious war markings.
