Functional, or working, memory is the facet of the memory that actively holds multiple pieces of transitory information in the mind, where they can be accessed, used, and manipulated, and this is a psychology term.

Affective memory is a theatrical term, coming from Stanislavski's acting method. Affective memory calls for people to cast their minds back to details of a similar experience, or one with similar emotional weight, to that of the character they are about to play. This emotional recall makes the character more believeable and more realistic.
