The Alisee cross is generally considered a variation of the Maltese cross which, while associated with the island of Malta is also, unfortunately, often associated with a division of knights in the Christian Crusades and therefore often connected to violence which is inconsistent with the person to whom crosses are generally associated -- Jesus of Nazareth (also called "the Prince of Peace"). It's strong arms and balanced shape are said, in some listings, to indicate strength and determination.
