Splash Day originated in Daytona Beach, Florida in the 1960's but was "outlawed". Texas took over the tradition. Splash Day is the "first day" of Texas schools Spring Break usu. mid-March and lasting 2-6 weeks (Texas schools "break" on different dates). Splash Day is the Texas beach component of Spring Break and is an enormous beach party. Make lodging arrangements at least 6 months in advance. There will be thousands of youths participating, mostly in South Padre Island, Texas. See: Animal House Toga Party times 10,000.
