The pub table is often also referred to as a cafe or bistro table and sometimes as a bar table. Dealers and manufacturers are not all that consistent with their terminology. "Pub", of course, comes from England where bar rooms are called Public Houses. Bistro comes from France and refers to small informal restruants. This class of tables are usually small seating two or four. They are often listed in classified ads and by dealers as counter height or bar height without specifying the actual height. Here is my take on clarifying all this.

First is a table that is 30 inches high. Very few of these are listed but they do exist. I have one that came from a small cafe. This is close to the standard height of kitchen and dining tables. The important thing here is that the chairs must be about 18 inches high to the seat.

Second, is the counter height table. These are 36 inches high and require stools that are 24 inches high to the seat..

Third are bar height tables which are 42 inches high and require stools that are 30 inches high to the seat.

All of these heights can vary about an inch or so.

One should inquire about the actual height rather than going by listed names for tables or stools.
