Well the original uchiha (name I don't know) created all current forms of Sharingan and passed it down/taught it to his sons. he also made the fire style moves (fireball jutsu, phoenix flower, grand fire ball, etc)

When he had the order to kill his whole clan, he did so with the exception of his brother, instead telling Sasuke to hate him so he wouldn't have to lead the life he had.
Tobi from Akatsuki, is actually Uchiha Madara (mentioned by the Kyuubi in the first episode of Shippuuden). Uchiha Madara is probably behind the Kyuubi attack 12 (14 in Shippuuden) years ago (even though he claims he isn't, but then, how does the kyubi know him?).
It's an interesting fact that all of the remaining Uchihas have awakened their Mangekyou Sharingan. (Yes, even Sasuke).
