I found out about Broskee and the Fam Bam from EEW Magazine the #1 Online Magazine for Black Christian women. They've got like 1/4 million readers or something like that. Here's the press release I cut and pasted. Hope this helps:
If you ask parents in Black Christian homes across America about Disney's new animated film, The Princess and the Frog, you'll get mixed reactions. While there is plenty of excitement about seeing Disney's first Black Princess, there is also a bit of concern and apprehension about the portrayal of a Fairy Godmother as a Voodoo Priestess and a not-so-noble Prince, who is a bit too much of a ladies man. But let's face it, in the world of multimedia, African American Christian families often don't have a wide variety of media choices that both represent their culture and belief system. An independent Christian production company, however, is trying to change all that.
Based out of the San Francisco Bay Area, His House Productions (HHP), was formed in 2006, with the distinct purpose of spreading God's word through children's media. Today, HHP has emerged as an industry leader in the creation of family-friendly entertainment for children between the ages of 2-12
years.
"We were divinely agitated by the lack of cultural diversity in Christian media for children," says Derrick Hill, a Managing Director at HHP, currently featured in EEW Magazine Online (www.eewmagazine.com), the #1 urban niche site for Black Christian women. "We also wanted to be a part of filling a void and making a change for the better while keeping God central in the message," a moral role that Veggie Tales once filled in millions of Christian homes across America, before its creators-Big Idea, was auctioned off in 2003 to a non-Christian media company.
In an effort to provide African American households with culturally and spiritually relevant media, Broskee and the Fam Bam was created. This lovable group of three friends-Broskee, Cotton and Kandy have won over the hearts of Black families. Broskee is an energetic boy from the city who often finds himself in challenging situations because he acts before he thinks. Cotton is a thoughtful boy with a southern drawl who is grounded in The Bible, thanks to his grandmother's influence. Kandy is a feisty outspoken suburban girl who often finds herself trapped between Broskee and Cotton.
Drawn in by the way HHP takes Biblical stories and retells them using relevant up-to-date language, combined with a creative mix of live action and 3-D animation to present real life challenges and solutions for children to use in their day-to-day lives, Black Christian families across the US have enthusiastically embraced them. Using their winning formula, HHP has created a unique suite of products for the entire family to enjoy-two DVD's (Big Ole Fish & Stinky Locker), one CD (JAM! Volume 1) and fun T-shirts--all of which the kids are sure to love. "His House Productions seeks to make a difference and spread the good news one child at a time," says Derrick Hill.
Broskee and the Fam Bam has earned the Dove Family Approved seal, along with an impressive 4 out of 5 star rating from the Dove Family Foundation.
