I am no expert, however I have heard of mill prior to these gold plated bsrs showing up on Ebay.i believe it is a deceptive way to indicate a thick coating of gold. In saying that I did purchase 11 of these bars. First I believe the base metal is copper, a good investment. And second, when the dollar collapses, anything of value will worth having. And wven a small amount of gold might be traded for food or firewood.
