Thanks for asking! Jayne is alive and well, and is currently (2008) splitting her time between Ft. Lauderdale (in the winter), and in Ann Arbor, Michigan during the good weather. While in Ann Arbor, she gets the opportunity to watch her grandchildren grow up. She has reached the point where she wears her age as a badge of honor. She just had her 87th Birthday, and lives independently while in Florida.
Jayne began her singing career with her older sister, Jerrie, when they were kids in the Choir at Immaculata High School (Chicago), and then on to some regional popularity in the Chicago area. They even made a few recordings.
Jayne later became a member of the Dinning Sisters, a very popular group in the 1940's through the early 1950's. The group was a three part harmony group, and were similar to the more famous Andrews Sisters. The two other members of the group were Ginger and Jean Dinning. Jayne joined the group when one of the other sisters dropped out. Jayne's harmonies fit right in, and the group continued without missing a beat. The group did a lot of touring, made many recordings, and enjoyed a large measure of popularity. Their best known song was "Buttons & Bows."
During their career, they performed with the likes of Bob Hope, Nat King Cole, Eddy Arnold, and many others. Jayne left the group in the late 1950's to be a housewife and raise a son. She resumed her career in the 1960's by singing Radio jingles, as well as doing shows at the Lake Shore Club, South Shore Country Club, and other venues in and around Chicago.
In the 1970's continuing into the 1990's, one of the Dinnings' most ardent fans contacted them, and arranged reunions for them. While they parted ways on the best of terms, they simply drifted apart with the passage of time and demands of the three each raising their individual families. When these reunions, took place, it was as if they were never apart. They immediately knew all the songs, and had all the harmonies in place. Those in attendance at these reunions were amazed at their performance. It was truly magical.
Jayne, Jean, and Ginger still stay in touch. Although separated by distance geographically, they remain with each other in spirit. Jayne takes great pride in her singing career, and still remains humble as to the enjoyment she brought to her fans through her singing.
