he lost his ring and middle fingers tips in a sheet metal factory which made him tune to C sharp tuning and of course play with a custom gauge of strings
he had banjo strings for the top two strings which was like 38 gauge and the rest where normal light gauge if I'm right, but I'm 100% sure about the two top string being banjo
