Peter Pettigrew is strangled by the silver artificial hand that Voldemort put on him to replace the arm he sacrificed to bring him back to life. He attacked Harry in the basement of the Malfoy's house, but Harry reminded him that he had saved Peter's life in the Shrieking Shack.

Yes, Wormtail (Peter Pettigrew) dies in the last Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. He is strangled to death by his own hand (the silver hand Lord Voldemort gave him, after he chopped off his real one to make the potion that gave Voldemort his body back):

"'You're going to kill me?' Harry choked, attempting to prise off the metal fingers. 'After I saved your life? You owe me, Wormtail!'

The silver fingers slackened. Harry had not expected it: He wrenched himself free, astonished, keeping his hand over Wormtail's mouth. He saw the ratlike man's small watery eyes widen with fear and surprise: He seemed just as shocked as Harry at what his hand had done, at the tiny, merciful impulse it had betrayed, and he continued to struggle more powerfully, as though to undo that moment of weakness.

'And we'll have that,' whispered Ron, tugging Wormtail's wand from his other hand.

Wandless, helpless, Pettigrew's pupils dilated in terror. His eyes had slid from Harry's face to something else. His own silver fingers were moving inexorably toward his own throat.

'No --'

Without pausing to think, Harry tried to drag back the hand, but there was no stopping it. The silver tool that Voldemort had given his most cowardly servant had turned upon its disarmed and useless owner; Pettigrew was reaping the reward for his hesitation, his moment of pity; he was being strangled before their eyes," (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, USA Scholastic hardcover edition, p470).

Peter Pettigrew or Wormtail dies at Malfoy Manor in Lucius Malfoy's cellar where they are using it as a dungon. This is where Harry Potter and others are being held hostage. Harry reminds Wormtail that Wormtail owes him for saving his life in the story Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban . Wormtail's metal hand that was replaced by his normal left hand after Wormtail cut it off to bring Lord Voldemort back to life, begins choking Wormtail after Harry says Wormtail owes him. Wormtail dies.

He died in the seventh book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

At Malfoy Manor, Peter was sent to investigate a noise coming from the basement where Harry and Ron were being held. The noise had been Dobby disapparating with Luna and Ollivander, two other prisoners.

Peter began to strangle Harry until he reminded Peter of the life debt owed to him. Peter hesitated and the silver hand gifted to him by Lord Voldemort turned on him and Peter strangled himself to death while Harry and Ron attempted to stop it.

In Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry saved Peter's life. This meant Peter owed a life debt to Harry.

Wormtail was going to choke Harry to death when Harry reminded him of this life debt. This meant that the silver hand Voldemort gave him turned on Wormtail and choked him to death instead, repaying the debt.

He might not have cast the curse that killed them but he told Voldemort where they were hiding. So yes, he did because if he hadn't told Voldemort they wouldn't have been killed.

However, you could also blame Sirius Black because he convinced them to change to Peter. Or James & Lily for not choosing Dumbledore. Or even Snape who overheard part of the prophecy and told Voldemort.

Really there are lots of people to blame for their death which is J.K Rowling's way of showing that every bodies decisions effect others.

Peter Pettigrew is more to blame because he did give Voldemort the final clue out of pure selfishness, he just wanted more power even if it meant his friends died for it.
