Lynne Taylor died in 1982.

According to the sleeve notes on The Rooftop Singers 27-track compilation CD "Best of the Vanguard Years", at an amusement park in Ogden, Utah, she kissed the other two group members goodbye, stepped off the stage into the crowd and was never seen by them again.

I read also that she had got married and her husband objected to her touring, especially with the two fellas. Mostly, he wanted her to stay home.

As the CD sleeve notes state, she stepped off the stage, disappeared into the crowd and was never seen again. I read that she had died rather early at 43 years of age, 21st April 1979.

The Rooftop Singers Wiki page now states that her death was from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Slightly hard to believe. This was a woman who had run away from home in Missouri in her teenage in order to escape abuse (maybe sexual) by her father. She seems to have had plenty of spirit. She'd hitchhiked to New York and performed in bars as a singer, eventually meeting Erik Darling, who wanted her as the singer in The Rooftop Singers.

I'm tempted to think that she found the restrictions on her movements that her husband imposed were a little too much for her, finally. I would think that she tried to leave.
