Karen had an unusual life. After "Room 222" went off the air she spent all her money in an ill-fated attempt to start a communal vaccum cleaner factory in North-Western Indiana. It went reasonable well until a freak summer storm destroyed their entire inventory of replacement vaccum cleaner parts and the factory went into bankruptcy. Karen retreated to her parents' chicken ranch and worked as a stable girl until 1980. She then decided that she no longer wanted to be a woman, and had a sex change operation. As luck would have it, her best friend and former "Room 222" costar Lloyd Haynes also decided to have a sex change at the same time. So he donated his genitalia to Karen. Both operations were successfull and now Karen lives under the name "Burt Ward" in Los Angeles. To date she has given no explanation as to why she chose the name of Adam West's partner in the "Batman" television series. Her only mention of it was in a speech for the Sacramento chapter of the "Young Republicans" in 1992 where she said: "We have history". Karen can sometimes be seen in the background or crowd scene's in familar and popular movies. Her best known cameo came at 7 hours and 12 minutes into "Titanic" where she is seen doing a swan dive off the "Lito" deck just before Leonardo DeCaprio gets shot at. Other that working as an extra in movies, Karen is mostly a recluse who is reported to volunteer at local animal shelters in disguese as a bag lady.
