Jack Kelly played Bart Maverick from 1959 - 1962. After "Maverick" left the airwaves, he continued on for several years working on movies and TV shows (a very nice listing is also available on IMDB) He eventually got involved with real estate and then politics. He served two terms on the Huntington Beach, CA city council and also served as it's Mayor. He became semi-retired from acting, although he did make appearences on former co-star Jim Garner's series "The Rockford Files" and "Bret Maverick"

He was married two times and had only one child - a girl - during his lifetime. He died on November 7, 1992 from a stroke. There is currently a biography being written about his life and it is expected to be published later this year.
