in the anime series they do not go out but haruhi and hikaru go on a date in episode 16 "operation haruhi and hikaru's first date!" but i believe the do kiss and begin going out in the manga

In ouran host club who does haruhi end up with?
It depends on where you are wondering. In the anime, no one REALLY ends up with her and no one confesses their love to Haruhi but you can obviously tell (IE Tamaki, Hikaru, Kaoru) that they love Haruhi. Although Honey and Mori do care about her, they do not have romantic interest. And Honey says that Kyouya is even more dense about his feelings for Haruhi. In the anime, we will never know if he really loved her. But he does care about her (like all the hosts). But in the last episode, Tamaki saved Haruhi when she fell off the bridge. So you would think he ends up with her. But you never OFFICIALLY know who she ends up with. You just assume that, Tamaki is the best choice for Haruhi so he ends up with her. But in the manga, Kaoru, Hikaru, and Tamaki directly confess their love to Haruhi. While Kyouya in the last chapter says he agnoledged her, but wasn't interested because she couldn't bring merit to the Ootori family. Also, that he had something far more precious, and he didn't want to ruin it. But in the manga, Haruhi (and Tamaki) realize they are in love withn each other, and in the end, they move in together while they go study abroad in America (but it doesn't last long cause the rest of the host club follows them and they all study abroad)

Does Hikaru love Haruhi on Ouran High School Host Club?
In the manga it is revealed that he does. So does Kaoru, which makes Kaoru and Hikaru have a REAL fight! Afterwards, they make up, but Hikaru dies his hair brown or black i am not sure, so they can be told apart, and it suited him really well too. Kaoru gave up Haruhi for Hikaru, though he still sorta had feelings for her, Hikaru was more important to him. Hunny, Mori, and obviously, Kaoru, was all for Hikaru and Haruhi couple! They all supported him, but Kyoya said he didn't care how it went. Meanwhile, Tamaki is also in love with Haruhi, but he's such an idiot he doesn't know it yet;) In the anime, I wanted Tamaki and Haruhi to be together, but now that they say Hikaru is in love with her, I think he deserves her more and they make SUCH a better couple. Plus Hikaru deserves her more:) EDIT: (SPOILER) Kaoru also confesses his love for Haruhi and kisses her on the cheek in Ch.52. However, in Ch.81/82 Tamaki and Haruhi start confessing their love for each other and kiss! :S

There are quite a lot actually thought the anime itself did it's best to keep the story line the same as it was told in the manga there were some interesting facts and major changes left out. Some minor and Some major (Minor facts) In the Anime Haruhi did not distinugished the twins until Episode 5, but in the manga she distinguished them almost immediately before Tamaki even realized she was a girl though the two still had their fight because of her tactless comment. (2) In the anime During the visit in Haruhi's house the Hosts didn't need to wear slippers because the room was covered with some sort of carpter but inthe manga they had to and tamaki was given hand made boots made of bamboo which only fueled his suspicion that Haruhi was living in slavery forced to make bamboo foot wear of some sort. Also Hani cried for the facts that Haruhi's toilet was small. (3) In the manga when they were playing kick the can with the Newspaper Club watching, tamaki grabs haruhi and runs off with her in the garden apparently for the reason that who ever gets caught first will be the Target practice of Hani's new martial arts technique. (4) Even though Tamaki's hair is portrayed blonde in both anime and the manga it was revealed in small author's comments that His hair was indeed really light brown not blonde ........ Major Facts not known through the anime (1) Tamaki's Grandmother hates him because she is the illegitemate son of the Suoh family, simply because his mother and his father was never actually married when they tamaki (2) Tamaki is forbidden to meet his mother under any circumstances an order made by his Grandmother, his mother cried when they had to be seperated, the last image tamaki had of his mother (3) Kyoya felt respect for Haruhi though he never admitted he was ever in love with her. (14) tamaki and Haruhi was the first among the members to have children with Mori being the first one to know it. (15) Hani was only allowed to carry Usa-chan every 3 days. However he is seen less and less with him as the manga progresses (16) Whenever Hikaru and Kaoru had to stay over seperate houses, Kaoru would crash over at Hani's house while Hikaru would stay over Mori's house (17) Tamaki's full name is Rene Tamaki Richard De Grantaine Suoh, De Grantaine is his mother's last name. (18) Tamaki was able to tell the twins apart for a long time but lied about it because he was scared that if the twins knew the truth they would leave the club since Tamaki once said that he wants to spend time with them as much as he can until the day he can tell them apart but he did not want it to end (19) Tamaki was never affected by Hani's crying methods though pretended he was moved by it. (20) Mori has a pet baby chick and baby racoon that he both found and is taking care of (21) Mori is pursuing law while Hani is pursuing technlogy so he can have his own toy factory someday. (22) In the fights with Hani vs Mori. Hani is clearly the strongest among the two but Mori is smart enough to outwit him and therefore has won both times (23) The girls of Ouran was completely oblivous that Haruhi was a girl even to the end when they revealed her secret. It was only after Haruhi and Tamaki left to boston and Ranka yells at tamaki that he better not touch his daughter referring to Haruhi that they finally understood the situation. All the time they just thought that Haruhi and tamaki had a homosexual relationship (24) Haruhi must be at the top of her class at all time or she will be expelled (25) Despite Tamaki's stupidity he is ranked 2nd in his Class with Kyoya Ootori being in First place. The twins are ranked 4th (Kaoru) and 5th (Hikaru) Hani is ranked first in his class and Mori is ranked Second
