Simon's death in Lord of the Flies symbolizes the supremacy of evilness and bestly instincts in men .

In Golding's point of view, evilness was the only characteristic men really had and was spread among them, whereas Simon posesses a innate goodness. Moreover, He's one of the most important and positive characters depicted in the novel, whose high sense of morality turns him into Jesus, the one who died in order to save humans. The similarities between the two are several.Just as Jesus had to face the devil in the desert, Simon talks to the sow's head, having a forecast of his death;even discovering the truth, he dies before he can reveal it, kicked and bited, in great pain, like Jesus on the cross. The fact a storm is approaching is an anticipation of what's going to happen and the wave which drifts his body apert from the island underlines his difference from others.

Simon's death symbolizes the loss of innocence and how the truth will never be revealed (since only Simon knew what was going on).
