∙ 12y agoRue represnts Katniss's sister Prim, that was picked in the Reaping but Katniss volunteered for her to protect the life of her sister. This is ironic because Rue is just like Prim, to Katniss, and Katniss ends up not being able to protect her. when Rue dies, so does a part of Katniss.

After Rue's death Katniss receives a gift. It's a small loaf of breed from district 11. The people thank Katniss with this gesture and they don't want to let debts go unpaid. This time bread stands as a symbol of gratitude and brotherhood.
