What is an example of irony in The Hunger Games?

Katniss steps in for her sister, Primrose, to save her from a certain death only to watch her little sister die in the capital because of a contraption her best friend, Dale, helped make to destroy the capital. This, I found, was the most ironic and saddest part of the Hunger Games trilogy. Peeta Mellark is named after bread Cato is killed by the mutants which were in turn the tributes he murdered Peeta Mellark camouflages himself by using the one skill Katniss made fun of him for in training. (cake frosting) Sorry that's all I've got, :/

How does Peeta Mellark react to Claudius' final announcement in The Hunger Games?

Katniss was very surprised, angry even. She didn't understand what he meant, she thought it was just to get more sponsors. Katniss pushes Peeta afterwards for announcing a lie, because she thought she looked like a weakling. Afterwards Haymitch says that it's a good thing because she will get sponsers, too. It would put on a good show, and that's exactly what Panem wants. At the end of the book, Katniss finds out that Peeta meant what he said, and it was the truth.

How does Peeta Mellark backstab Katniss?

Peeta back stabbed Katniss to protect her. Peeta wants Katniss to win so that she can go back for Prim and her mother, and also he has loved her since the first day of school. He is trying to protect Katniss, so he joins with the Careers and does all he can to keep them away from her by misleading them. When they find her in the tree, Peeta is not there, so Cato tries to climb the tree to get to her, but breaks a branch in the attempt. Then, Peeta gets there and suggests that they wait until she comes down because, "she can't stay up there forever." That gives her more time, and thankfully, Haymitch sends her some burn cream from her encounter with the fireballs. Mainly, Peeta joined the Careers to make sure of Katniss' safety.

What does 'a kind Peeta Mellark is far more dangerous to me than an unkind one' mean?

It means that when Peeta is being kind to Katniss, it's harder for her to hate him, and if she doesn't hate him, she can't kill him. She needs to kill him if she wants to win The Hunger Games.

Where does Katniss find Peeta in the hunger games?

Clove punishes him for helping Katniss escape by stabbing him in the leg then abandoning him. Peeta can't find anyone to help him so he camouflages himself by burying himself in mud. Then Caesar that two tributes from the same district can both win, so Katniss looks for Peeta and finds him in the mud with a very high fever. Then she tries to heal him. She goes to some kind of feast that has what she needs and finds the medicine that can cure him.
