He didn't believe thier journey was real and also didn't believe that Thorin was a descendant. He strongly thought there would be attempted burglary, or something similar to it.

They took them to the halls of the Elven King in his hall, a large cave at the edge of Mirkwood. The wood elves of Mirkwood, in the Hobbit, took the thirteen dwarves to their king's halls, where they were locked in by cellars and a magic gate.

Why did the dwarves sing in The Hobbit?

It cheered them up, I think. They enjoyed singing and playing their instruments, and it was a wonderful thing to hear.

Why is there a feud between the elves and dwarves?

There was not always animosity between the Elves and the Dwarves. Dwarves made the best armour and the elves often traded and bought and sold. The entrance was the primary access point for their dealings, and was placed their mostly for the purpose of the elves. The elves of Eregion were great craftsmen, and they traded and worked with the dwarves of Moria, and there was great friendship. This ended when Sauron revealed himself, slew the elves' king, Celebrimbor, and the Gates of Moria were shut.

Which dwarves die in the hobbit book?

Of the THIRTEEN dwarves that set out along with Bilbo Baggins on the Quest of Erebor, three died in the Battle of the Five Armies: Fili, Kili, and Thorin Oakenshield. The other 10 dwarves were: Dwalin, Balin, Dori, Nori, Ori, Oin, Gloin, Bifur, Bofur, and Bombur. In the 1977 animated movie version of The Hobbit, only 6 of the dwarves live. I forget which though. One thing I'm certain of: Fili, Kili, and Thorin die in both the book and the animated movie. However, only Fili, Kili, and Thorin die in the book.

How does Gandalf rescue Bilbo's and the dwarves in hobbit?

I think he rescues them numerous times, but the one that first comes to my mind is when he rescues them from the Trolls, by keeping them arguing until the sun rose up and turned them all to stone.

In The Hobbit what does the phrase 'I may be a burglar but I am an honest one' mean?

It may mean that he is a bad person, but he admits it. Bilbo Baggins says this. He is stung by some of the comments of the dwarves. I think that it means that Bilbo may be a thief, but he does not tell lies.
