Peeta is captured by the capital, so that they can use him Katniss. They torture Peeta, and make him try to convince Katniss that a war is not a good idea, and that President Snow should still lead. The capital will go to any lengths of torturing Peeta, to break Katniss, and end the rebellion.

∙ 10y agoThe Capitol managed to take: Peeta, Johanna, and Enobaria from the arena. District 13 rescued: Katniss, Finnick, and Beetee.
The Capitol tortured Peeta and Johanna, as Johanna put it, "We were familiar with each others' screams."
The Capitol used a Hijacking technique on Peeta, distorting memories of Katniss with Tracker-Jacker Venom, thereby making him believe that Katniss was a Muttation.
The Capitol used Electrocution torture on Johanna. Covering her head with water and giving her electric shocks. This technique resulted in her later Hydrophobia (Fear of Water).
The Capitol used no forms of torture on Enobaria as she was from District 2.

∙ 12y agoThey made him go on the Victory Tour and pretty much forced him to propose to Katniss. Then they threw Peeta back into the Hunger Games, and after that, they captured him.
