Well, I see you want to find out the question "what did miners do for entertainment." It's simple. If there was a town or encampment there or close by, miners went in town to buy alcohol, do lots of gambling, and prostitution. Gambling was the main. (Definition for gambling: betting or predicting something or someone, like in a horse race, and you get money for it. Just almost the same with gambling.)

It was very similar when the Europeans, the First Fleet for Australia, mainly drank lots of alcohol and did lots of gambling. By the way, that was basically the entertainment in life back in the 1700's, before of course u were born.
