Diana fell on the stairs in her home, and although it was not a dramatic fall, it created a linear fracture in the left femur just below the pelvis. She developed symptoms of a fat embolis which was a result of marrow leakage from the untreated frature which settled in her lung and she went into severe respiratory failure, which resuted in her untimely death at age 54.
