Historically there have been several who worked it into (Comedy) acts that somehow avoided the censors. there was a soldier on MASH- a corporal, who used to wear women"s clothes on the air, I do not recall the name of the actor. both Milton Berle and Johnny Carson occasionally acted ( In Drag) Carson in late night TV. Finally there is Flip Wilson of (Geraldine) infamy. I do not know why these acts were not censored. there were folks who made a fuss about (Top Cat) which had Gay overtones, Transvestism on TV- that"s something else. One vaguely recalls a crime drama possibly starring Raymond Burr ( a real life Gay man by the way_ about a ( Boy who was raised as a Girl) as the polite explanation went and got into trouble with the law. This was a crime drama and not a Perry Mason case file. Funny thing all of these actors except the Mash one are deceased.
