The town of Matamata was transformed into Hobbiton. The Taupo Region was Mordor. The Wellington area was used for several locations including Rivindell, The Anduin River, The Gardens of Isengard, and Loth Lorien.

Well, if you mean the parts of Hobbiton, they were shot in a place called Auckland in New Zealand. If you are a HUGE fan, you might want to consider going there. About the other shots, i dont know. Ask other people that are geeks

Lord of the Rings was filmed in many different locations all over New Zealand. If you go to New Zealand you can take tours of several locations including Hobbiton, Helms Deep etc.

Well the movie was filmed in many places in New Zealand due to the amazing scenery but the main studio and workshops are in Wellington, which is the capital city of New Zealand
