The town of Matamata was transformed into Hobbiton. The Taupo Region was Mordor. The Wellington area was used for several locations including Rivindell, The Anduin River, The Gardens of Isengard, and Loth Lorien.

∙ 12y agoWell, if you mean the parts of Hobbiton, they were shot in a place called Auckland in New Zealand. If you are a HUGE fan, you might want to consider going there. About the other shots, i dont know. Ask other people that are geeks
